* Respirometric Determination of Biochemical Oxygen
  Demand(B.O.D.)
* Organic substances in the sample are oxidized 
  microbially by the use of oxygen (O2). 
  The resultant carbon dioxide (CO2) is absorbed by 
  potassium hydroxide(KOH) and this results in  a pressure 
  drop in the system which is proportional to the BOD value.
  This is detected by the IR-Sensor, logged by 
  the BOD-Sensomat
  and converted directly into mg/l of BOD.
